Chile, 18.01.2023The Committee of Ministers (1) - Government President Gabriel Boric - unanimously rejected the controversial Dominga mining and port project on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023.The project has for years threatened the habitat of many endangered species including the Humboldt penguin. The Humboldt Archipelago in the Coquimbo region, northern Chile is a world-class ecosystem and basis of existence for many people in the coastal villages.Already in 2017, "Dominga" had been rejected by the Committee of Ministers during the government of President Michelle Bachelet.The company Andes Iron sued against it, which it will in all likelihood do again now.Note (1) Environment Minister Maisa Rojas, Health Minister Ximena Aguilera, Economy Minister Nicolás Grau, Agriculture Minister Esteban Valenzuela, Energy Minister Diego Pardow, and Mining Minister Marcela Hernando.WK
